Aerodynamicist - Design Engineer - Southampton - to £45K



We are looking for an Aerodynamicist - Aerodynamic Design Engineer / Designer with a strong aerodynamics background and ideally automotive engineering experience. Position is based in Southampton, Hampshire.



Candidates or graduates with less experience or qualifications will be considered providing they can demonstrate relevant skills or experience. Full training will therefore be given.



THE POSITION:

Aerodynamic design of radial compressor blading, diffusers & volutes

Aerodynamic design of radial and axial turbine expansion stages (wheels, vanes and volutes)

Stress & thermal analysis of static & rotating components



This is a permanent position with an immediate start



REQUIREMENTS:

B Eng (Hons) 2:1 in mechanical, automotive or power engineering

Adept at using CFD especially CFX

Adept at using FEA software

Technically sound in mechanical engineering with a good understanding of thermodynamics

Good understanding of materials selection



Preferred experience:

Understanding of rotor dynamics (esp damped rolling element bearing

systems)

Good understanding of high speed rotating machinery including tolerancing

Experience with automotive engineering requirements & standards



PACKAGE:

Negotiable salary £35k - £45k

27 days holiday + bank holidays

Full time (37 hours a week). ½ day Friday
